Volunteer Vacancies

 

Abbeyfield Reigate provides high quality, value for money sheltered accommodation for older, independent people - with activities supported by an active volunteer network.  We operate on a not-for-profit basis, which enables us to re-invest any surpluses in projects to improve the home and the facilities for residents.

Drivers for shopping outings (circa 3hrs per month)

• This role involves picking up residents from Abbeyfield Reigate and bringing them to the local supermarket

• Residents appreciate some support as they go round the store finding items, or carrying something heavy.

 
Resident ‘buddy’ (variable – up to 5hrs per month)

• The purpose of the role is to help a resident stay involved with their hobbies and local groups 

• This is a particularly important role when a resident is new to the area, or has limited family support nearby.

 
Volunteer Trustees (circa 5 hrs per month)

• Trustees set the Society’s strategic direction, provide leadership and vision, and create an environment in which staff can succeed and residents enjoy a good quality of life over the long term. They hold ultimate responsibility for ensuring the charity is solvent, well run and delivering its charitable purpose for the community. 

• Each Trustee represents a specific functional area (e.g. finance, HR, marketing); we are seeking a range of skills to grow the board and plan for succession.

 
Person Specification
The key requirements are patience and time!

  

• For the trustee roles some Business or charity management experience which a candidate can use to input to and guide decision making.

• All our volunteers are DBS checked
